i've been selling stuff online and off, and in many different sales venues since 2002. over the past decade+, i've learned a thing or two about how to sell, what to sell, and where the best markets are to sell these things.
the first thing i learned is that unless you have a way to get repeat business, you are constantly working to get new eyeballs on your sales listings.
once you have established yourself in a niche, then you will reap the rewards of return customers. this is true in any sales driven business, be it sales on-line or off, and for physical products or digital information.
